Asia Argento grew up in Rome Italy. Her family is made up of actors, and she herself has been pursuing both careers. The actress made her debut at the age of nine years old in the film of Sergio Citti, Sogni e bisogni (1985). In 1988 she had the lead role in Cristina Comencini's debut film, Zoo (1988), and also was in the ensemble of The Church (1989), directed by Michele Soavi. Then, in 1989, she portrayed Nanni Moretti's (also directed by Michele Soavi) child in Red Wood Pigeon. Close Friends, written and directed Michele Placido in 1992, was the point where Asia's acting career started off. As she grew older, playing girl roles, she went on to perform more challenging and mature characters. The film received a great reception at the Cannes International Film Festival. Trauma (1996) and The Stendhal Syndrome are others she's made with her famous father. The Phantom of the Opera will be her third film together with her father, which includes Trauma & The Stendhal Syndrome.
